Established in 1999, Woodford Island Nature Reserve spans 374 hectares, conserving part of Woodford Island Ridge—the largest and highest island in the Clarence River. The reserve comprises two separate portions that were formerly part of Woodford North and Woodford South state forests. It features coastal blackbutt and red bloodwood trees, some of which are in old-growth condition. The reserve provides habitat for four threatened and two migratory fauna species and is part of the cultural landscape of the Yaegl Aboriginal people.
