Wilgena, located approximately 350 kilometers northwest of Port Augusta, South Australia, is a vast pastoral lease covering 507,300 hectares. Established in 1924, it was once the largest fenced sheep property globally. The station is renowned for its fertile soil and salt bush, providing excellent fodder for merino sheep. Managed by Ian Matheson, Wilgena encompasses the town of Tarcoola, a historic gold rush settlement from the 1880s, now uninhabited but notable as a railway junction.
