Selwyn

Selwyn is a remote locality in Queensland's Shire of Cloncurry, Australia, known for its rich mining heritage, particularly in copper and gold. Established in the late 19th century, the town once boasted a population of over 1,500 residents and featured amenities such as a hospital and multiple hotels. However, following a decline in mining activities and the collapse of copper prices in the 1920s, Selwyn experienced significant depopulation. By the 2021 census, only 25 residents remained. Today, Selwyn stands as a testament to Queensland's mining history, offering a glimpse into the rugged beauty of the Australian outback.
