VenuePlace of Worship

Scottsdale, TAS

Established in 1876, Scottsdale Brethren Hall is the town's oldest surviving place of worship. The Christian Brethren, also known as the Plymouth Brethren, originated in Great Britain in the 1820s and spread to Australia by the mid-19th century. In 1874, evangelists Brown and Perrin held revival meetings in Scottsdale, leading to the formation of a separate congregation. The Gospel Hall was built in 1876, becoming the first church to leave the Ellesmere Union Chapel. Today, it remains a significant part of Scottsdale's religious community.
