Mangalore

Mangalore is a rural locality situated approximately 32 kilometers north of Hobart, Tasmania's capital city. Nestled between the townships of Bagdad and Brighton along the Midland Highway, it offers a tranquil setting with a population of around 422 residents as of the 2016 census. The area is renowned for its historic homesteads, including Wybra Hall, Oakwood, and Marlbrook, which reflect the region's prosperous wheat-growing history from the early nineteenth century. Additionally, the Chauncy Vale Wildlife Sanctuary, located east of Bagdad, is one of Tasmania's oldest private conservation areas, holding both Aboriginal cultural heritage significance and European settlement heritage value.
