Perched atop Green Hill on Thursday Island, this historic fortification offers panoramic views of the Torres Strait. Constructed between 1891 and 1893, it was designed to defend against potential Russian threats. The fort features three six-inch breech-loading gun emplacements, underground tunnels, and storage rooms. During World War II, it served as a signals and wireless station for Allied forces. After its decommissioning, the fort was restored and now houses the Torres Strait Historical Museum, inviting visitors to explore its rich military history and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
