Ay Ot Lookout

Ay Ot Lookout, a heritage-listed villa at 63 Hodgkinson Street, Charters Towers, Queensland, was designed by architect William White and constructed in the 1890s. The two-storey timber house features an exposed stud frame, complex gabled roof, and wide verandahs adorned with ornate cast iron balustrading and timber handrails. Notably, a square porch extends beyond the verandah, rising through the upper storey to resemble a tower. The interior boasts high-quality cedar joinery, high ceilings, and fireplaces in the drawing and dining rooms. Listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992, Ay Ot Lookout exemplifies the wealth and confidence of Charters Towers during its late 19th-century prosperity.
