Broken Hill, NSW

Housed in a restored 1892 heritage building, the Albert Kersten Mining and Minerals Museum, also known as the GeoCentre, showcases Broken Hill's rich geological history. Visitors can explore over 2,000 mineral, gem, and crystal specimens, including a 42kg silver nugget. The museum features the Silver Tree, crafted from 8.5kg of silver and once owned by Charles Rasp, a key figure in the city's mining heritage. Interactive displays and a three-screen cinema provide insights into the formation of the Line of Lode and the region's unique geology. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
