Yengo National Park, located in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, offers the 30-kilometre Howes Trail, a scenic 4WD route through open ironbark forests. This trail, also popular among motorbike and mountain bike enthusiasts, provides a 2.5-hour drive with opportunities for birdwatching, as over 200 species inhabit the park, including glossy black and gang-gang cockatoos and lyrebirds. Visitors may also encounter wombats and wallaroos. The trail is accessible via Putty Road, just south of Howes Valley, and from Laguna and Wollombi via Yango Creek Road and Finchley Track.
