
Lake Wellington Yacht Club, established in 1960, is situated at Marlay Point on the western shore of Lake Wellington, the westernmost lake of the Gippsland Lakes. Its sailing season runs from October to April, featuring a mix of social sailing and competitive racing. The club accommodates a diverse fleet, including Hartley 16s, Explorer 16s, RL 24s, Castle 650s, Noelex 25s, Timpenny 650s, Boomerang 20s, and various off-the-beach boats like Mosquitoes, Laser 4.7s, Laser Radials, Sabres, Hansas, and Catamarans. Members can sail their own boats or borrow club-owned vessels. The club also hosts the historic Marlay Point Overnight Race annually, a tradition since 1968. Facilities include accessible amenities, a BBQ area, and a kitchen, with options for event hire. Camping and caravan sites are available for extended stays, offering access to showers and toilets. The club is committed to inclusivity, operating a Sailability program for individuals with disabilities. Membership options cater to various needs, including family, senior, and junior memberships, with provisions for boat storage.
