HMAS Cerberus, established in September 1920, serves as the Royal Australian Navy's premier training establishment, located approximately 70 km from Melbourne near Crib Point on Western Port Bay. Annually, it trains about 6,000 Navy personnel and has expanded to include Army and Air Force training over the past 13 years. The base houses several training schools, including the School of Survivability and Ship Safety, Maritime Logistics Health, the Engineering Faculty, Defence Force School of Signals, Supply and Health Faculty, and the School of Music. The HMAS Cerberus Heritage and Learning Centre features a large collection of artefacts, photographs, and memorabilia. The base offers numerous training and recreation facilities, two chapels, a small marina, and attractive grounds. The surrounding beach and bushlands provide beautiful settings for walks and expeditions, with activities such as horse riding, trail bike riding, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking available in the region.
