Murray Bridge, SA

The Round House, completed in 1876, is one of Murray Bridge's oldest surviving buildings, constructed during the development of the first bridge spanning the Murray River. This historic hexagonal residence has served various roles, including a school, post office, church, and council chambers. Today, it operates as a vibrant community space, offering guided tours that delve into the area's rich history. Visitors can explore the beautifully restored homestead and gardens, which provide picturesque views of the river and bridges. The Round House is also a popular venue for small weddings and private functions. It is open Wednesday to Friday from 11 am to 3 pm, Saturday from 8:30 am to 11 am, and Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. Admission fees are $8 for adults, $5 for concessions, $3 for children, and $15 for families. Local residents receive free entry with one paying customer. For more information or to arrange private tours and venue hire, contact (08) 8539 1100 or email theroundhouse@murraybridge.sa.gov.au.
