Putta Bucca Wetlands

Putta Bucca Wetlands, located just north of Mudgee, NSW, is a haven for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. This 2 km return trail offers easy access to diverse flora and fauna, including a variety of waterbirds, frogs, fish, and turtles. The area features two newly built bird hides, enhancing the birdwatching experience. Managed by the Mid-Western Regional Council, the wetlands have transformed from a disused quarry into a thriving ecosystem, supporting a high diversity of wildlife. The name "Putta Bucca" is derived from the Wiradjuri language, meaning "a hill near a creek" and "stinking fish."
