Aldona Kmieć is a Melbourne-based photographer and visual artist whose work delves into themes of belonging and memory through both conceptual and documentary approaches. Originally from Poland, she moved to Australia in 2009 and established her studio in Ballarat. Her recent projects include "Veil" (2024), which employs long-exposure photography, movement, and color to evoke states of transition and impermanence, and "Winterbloom" (2021). Aldona has received project funding from the City of Melbourne (2024) and participated in a 3-month studio residency at Gasworks Arts Park between 2024 and 2025. She has been a finalist in several awards, including the Omnia Art Prize (2025) and the Mullins Conceptual Photography Prize (2024). Her work has been exhibited in galleries throughout Australia, the UK, and Poland. Aldona is also a volunteer at the Heide Museum of Modern Art.
